The Mission Statement of the Monticello Fire Dept. reads: "It is the purpose of the Monticello Fire Department to provide the emergency, fire and rescue services necessary to meet the needs of our community." Within the words of this Mission Statement, there is so much more to our department than meets the eye.

The Monticello Fire Department is charged with fire suppression, fire prevention, public fire safety education, medical first responders, confined space rescue, ice/water rescue, and hazardous materials incident response for the City of Monticello.

In addition, the MFD contracts with White County to provide ambulance service to all townships with the exception of Princeton, Prairie and Round Grove. Fire Protection is provided to the City of Monticello, Union Twp. and Jefferson Twp. in Carroll County.

Currently, 23 professional firefighters (and 10 volunteers) are employed in our dept. These 23 dedicated firefighters are also trained as paramedics ... dual career professionals!
