The Monticello City Parks Department and Co-Sponsors announce its October Programs.  Check schedule for registration requirements.  For most classes, you may register online here or call the Parks Department at 574-583-3983.  Most classes are free of charge, unless noted in the description.

Haunted Trail Hike - October 12

The Streets of Monticello Association invites all residents to attend the annual Haunted Trail Hike. The Hike Festivities will be held at the Altherr Nature Park from 5:00 P.M. - 9:30 P.M..

The first Hiking Group leaves at 6:00 P.M. The last hike of the night will be at 9:15 P.M.

Activities

  • Haunted Trail Hike
  • Campfire
  • Ghost Stories
  • Roast S'mores

Other Food and Drink can be purchased. Follow signs for additional parking. Golf Car Rides will be available to Altherr Park from the Parking Lot. There will be a free will donation. The Haunted Trail Hike is co-sponsored by the Indiana Main Street Initiative, Indiana Office of Community Affairs, and the City of Monticello Parks Department.

Water Plant Operator Opening - App. due Sept. 13th

EXTENDED APPLICATION DEADLINE - The city of Monticello is seeking qualified applicants for water operator.  The Water Plant Operator will help the City of Monticello, IN continue to provide high quality water services to the citizens of Monticello IN. In addition to providing high quality water to our citizens, the Water Plant Operator will perform a variety of technical tasks to effectively operate, maintain and control various components of the City's Water Treatment Plants. Facilities include a conventional pressure filtration plant, distribution system control valves, storage tanks, and standpipes. Works under Indiana State regulations and procedures for water treatment and water supply; as well as established City policies and procedures.  Review the operator opening description.  To apply, select one of the application forms below.  Applications are due at City Hall on Friday, September 13th at 4pm.:

Lane Restriction Information - Begins June 10th

The Monticello Street Department announces that Milestone Contractors will begin rebuilding the 300 block of N. Main Street on Monday June 10, 2024. The project is expected to take about 8 weeks. New curbs and sidewalks will be installed and the street will be resurfaced. New street light poles will be installed as well as tree replacement. There will be lane restrictions and possible short term closures with this project. Please plan your travel accordingly. This project is part of the community crossings grant program to help improve our streets and sidewalks.

Lane Closure Information - Begins June 4th

The City of Monticello Street Department is announcing the plan to hook up drains at the Community Corrections Building next week. They will be working at the Illinois and Marion Street intersection. Beginning Tuesday June 4, one lane of Illinois Street and one lane of Marion Street will be closed. They expect this project to take 2 - 3 days .
