Monticello Riverwalk Survey

Monticello Riverwalk Survey (takes approx. 1-2 minutes)

Through a partnership with the City of Monticello, Monticello Redevelopment Commission, Monticello Parks & Recreation and other area partners, the Riverwalk Access Trail is in the planning phases. The Monticello Parks & Recreation Board is applying for a Land and Water Conservation Fund to assist in implementation of this much anticipated community project.

Imagine being able to walk from downtown Monticello and be at the edge of the Tippecanoe River in a short walk. Or venturing out in your canoe, kayak or small motorized watercraft to dock and be minutes away from Riverwalk Plaza and other beautiful elements of downtown.

The Riverwalk Access trail will connect the built environment to the navigable waters of the Tippecanoe River. Hop on the trail at the entry point just off of US 24 and enjoy a leisurely stroll down the gently winding trail to the anticipated public access docks right on the Tippecanoe River.

We are seeking your input as the users of this great asset and amenity to the Monticello community.

Monticello Named Smart Rural Community

The City of Monticello has been recognized as a smart rural community.  Lightstream, a local company providing fiber-optic broadband services, to our community is our city partner.  Their goal is to bring high speed internet to rural areas.

Lightstream was awarded this honor by the National Broadband Association.  The President and CEO of Lightstream, Brent Gilliam, has worked towards this goal within rural areas during the pandemic.

Gilliam remarked, "To be able to share this with our community and watch it develop and grow and be able to provide that opportunity for many years and decades in the future is very important to us."  Monticello Mayor Cathy Gross said this recognition is part of her mission to move the city forward.  Gross said, "Because of these important partnerships we are able to constantly make a different in our community".
